Session 6 - The Dark Temple

And how can I die better
Than facing fearful odds;
For the ashes of my master
At the gateway to the Gods.

- Coffinbox's silent prayer as he dies

SESSION INSPIRATION AWARDS: Herby, Kith

As Coffinbox falls, a sudden pain rips through your minds ... and a velvet voice dripping with dread fills the temple room:

Well now, that's rather disappointing.  That mad tortle was a menace, but he was useful in his own way.  I won't pretend that I'm not angry over his death, but there are ways around that for beings of my stature.  It just needlessly complicates the day, doesn't it?
I have watched you, as you walked my halls under the flag of the elven nation .. Syngorn, yes?  I had guessed they'd come poking after they discovered my laboratory.  The traps were enough to keep their agents at bay, but you ... you are altogether something different.
You may keep the items that you have taken from the tortle.  Consider it his reward for failing me so spectacularly.  But now, let's talk about you, yes?  What is it that you want?  You come to my temple, raid my halls, kill my minions, and for what?  What treasure do you seek, 'heroes?'
If I may presume, you are here for the tome?  I must warn you, adventurers ... it is a tome of pure, unadulterated power.  To possess it is to invite challenge.  To risk destruction.  To anger the very Gods themselves.  I doubt any of you are even strong enough to possess it, but I suppose your masters have ordered its retrieval; such arrogance!  If that is what you seek ...
Perhaps we can make a deal, yes?  I am not unreasonable.  I can do the math; I would likely kill most of you, but the odds against me are not favorable.  I wish to continue my work in peace.  The tome is something I can part with, for a price of course.  I'm sure you understand.
Behind the altar is an orb.  Touch it, and you'll be translocated to my lair.  Oh, and be a dear will you and grab the tortle's body?  I'm not quite done with him yet.

Session 5 - The Plot Thickens (Everyone)

For untold eras the heav'nly host on mortals
Withheld their dread power with watchful eyes
Abriell called to council, the champions nine
With pitying eyes, the wasting host of Tal'dorei

The dragon, in her majesty, thus began.

SESSION INSPIRATION AWARDS: Everyone earns Inspiration

After driving off Scurris and Darkfury and returning to the Rusty Slot, the group ponders their next move.  They spend an enjoyable night with the locals and retire for the evening.

While the group rests, mysterious notes are delivered.

First, a letter is delivered by the Rusty Slot staff to Aemeyt, containing the tight, precise script of his aide, Lenshal Highmoon.  Amongst other things, Syngorn High Command is expecting an update.  To Daang, a mysterious letter from her supposedly dead mother ... she's resettled in Byroden and is experiencing problems with hobgoblins associated with something called the "Mailed Fist." And finally, Syndi drafts a letter to her mother about her half-brother Wulkax.  A fiery response comes back immediately, burning into the parchment in the hand of her own mother.  She doesn't know too much about Wulkax, but the news about Lorkax's possible abduction causes great concern for her.

After the party reveals what they have learned, they decide to return to the tower in the Turst Fields, as Abriell asked.  Boarding the Black Manta, Ixta instructs her crew to head back home.

When they arrive, Khor Oreheart greets them at the drawbridge.  He is unusually serious.
"She's expecting you.  All of you."
After heading through the tower to the main chamber, a huge, golden portal opens; the pathway to Abriell's domain is open.  They step through.  Abriell awaits the heroes in her demesne, where she greets them warmly.  She speaks.

Abriell, in her full glory, awaits the party.

"Greetings, heroes.  I am pleased to see you returned, whole and healthy.  Usiris tells me of your exploits often.  He is very fond of you.  He has told me also what transpired in Kymal, under the city.  You all did well to hold off Scurris and Darkfury; they are formidable.  One of you fell, though returned by my champion's hand.  My dear Krak, I am sorry for what happened.  I mean not your death ... "
Grandfather Krak looks to Abriell in surprise.
"I had guessed that the dragon's agents would apprehend you.  The formula you carried was false.  It should set them back, at least for a time.  Faithful Krak, please forgive my deception ... they had to believe you.  I withdrew my grace in order to further sell the ruse.  You are not abandoned, dear Krak.  Welcome home."
Krak looks confused, but relieved.  He falls to his knees, and professes his undying love for Abriell.
"I believe it is time, heroes, for you to know the forces arrayed against us.  Some time ago, a dragon from the Far Realm found its way to our world.  This 'void dragon' is a threat to all life.  He seeks one thing: to rebalance this world and reshape it in his own twisted image.
"To achieve this, I believe this void dragon intends to break open the Divine Gate separating the mortal races from the Gods.  But not the Gods of Good.
"No, he plans to unleash the Betrayer Gods.  Doing so would unleash hordes of demons upon this world.  This horde would overrun all defenses and savage every kingdom.  All mortal life would perish.
"In its wake, the demons would hold total sway over this realm.  This would provoke a response from the Devils of the multiverse; hellfire would rain upon this world and, if the void dragon is right, reset the scales.  He would be the most powerful being on the planet, and creation would be his alone.
"To break the Divine Gate requires immense resources, though.  He already has a few of the items he needs: The Well of Many Worlds, The Book of Vile Darkness, and The Talisman of Ultimate Evil.
"But he does not have everything he requires.  We still have time.  We must find out what he lacks and get to it first.
"We know he needs a powerful Ethereal Salve, but we have planted a fake for him.  The real salve was stolen by the villain Ozrick Dunn, who gave it to his infernal master, Lord Dispater, who rules the second layer of Hell.
"I fear we are in dire peril.  If the void dragon succeeds, all life will end.  Time is of the essence.  We need to gather our allies and discover what else he requires to complete his profane rite.  We can still stop him, heroes.  Will you help me?"

Abriell's plea with the heroes complete, she offers them her most powerful gifts.

For Ixta, a psychic rapier and a cat's grace.
For Allen, unerring accuracy with his baleful firearms.
For Daang, unrivaled strength.
For Guy, a ring to protect himself and a silver tongue.
For Herbie, a magical stone that absorbs and converts magical energy.
For Aemeyt, the wisdom of centuries.
For Syndi, a wicked black scepter and arcane knowledge.
For Daltonya, wrappings of power and a seer's insight.
And for Usiris, her most faithful servant, her heavenly warmth and ownership of the Tower.

After Abriell bestows her gifts, the party departs for Syngorn to look for lost information and also so Aemeyt can report to his superiors in Elven Intelligence.  Before they depart, Dreg, First Claw of the Akmul pulls Ixta aside.  He has dire warnings of a mutiny led by another officer, Air Pirate Lamella, a tabaxi that has flown with Ixta for quite some time.  Ixta calls Lamella into her cabin and intimidates her easily.  Lamella, cocky at first, backs down and offers her service for her life.  Ixta accepts, and the crew takes off for the elven fortress of Syngorn located far to the south.

The beauty of Syngorn is hard to deny.
Upon arriving in Syngorn, the ship is allowed to dock and carriages take the party through the winding streets of the elven capital.  It is a wonder to behold.

"Welcome home, my lord."
They are met by Aemeyt's assistant, a pretty elf named Lenshal Highmoon.  She escorts them through the Gwelunir estate; a modest estate by elven standards, but palatial to the party.  A fine dinner is had, and Lenshal arranges transport to the Sea Elf's Shanty near the docks, where the party, minus Aemeyt, will rest.  Aemeyt bids them all adieu and the carriages take them to the rowdy dock district and retires for the evening with Lenshal.  The Sea Elf's Shanty is a sturdy, if run-down, establishment owned by Aemeyt's father.  After some disconcerting conversation with his father (who apparently doesn't have a high opinion of his own son), the party is left to their own devices.  Some go pub crawling, others rest.  Guy attempts to infiltrate the high-security elven ward where Aemeyt's estate is, but fails spectacularly.  He is escorted out by guards in a friendly but firm manner.

In the morning, the party reconvenes and heads into the military district.  It's an imposing place, with sweeping architecture and heavily armed guards.  They head into the largest building are taken upstairs to meet with Aemeyt's superior.  The Inspector General Volandris, resplendent in golden armor, is friendly with Aemeyt and quizzes the group on what's been going on.  The party fills him in on what they've seen.

"Good to see you, Aemeyt.  Tell me what's been happening."
The Inspector General suggests they spend some time in library.  If they can find something useful, they can try to beat the void dragon with it!  But alas, the party finds nothing.

After the group returns, the Inspector General mentions that a tome was lost and another cube found.  This has just been reported by another agent ... one Aemeyt may know well.  Inquisitor Veld has returned and is now tasked with guiding the party to the ruins where the cube ... and the tome, hopefully, lie.  Veld hates Aemeyt, which isn't helpful.  The party resolves to head to the ruins.

Inquisitor Veld, a drow, is a rare sight in Syngorn.

Session 4 - Darkfury Arrives (Syndi, Aemeyt)

With such deadly wrath, Darkfury arrives
Borne upon neglected son's prayers
He blames us; the scales reset
May soothe his anger and hatred assuage

SESSION INSPIRATION AWARDS: Syndi, Aemeyt

After the successful polymorphing of the Powerlord Grimgore, the party took a few minutes to decide on a course of action ... charm the minotaur, lock him in a cage, or just leave.

The party eventually noticed  a small iron cage, tucked off to the side.  Inside this iron cage was a rather ostentatious halfling by the name of Ludo Lightfingers, a captive of the Powerlords.  Powerwife Satella confirmed that he was their prisoner and an agent of the Myriad.  Herbie begrudgingly returned his items to him and Ludo was able to cast Animal Friendship on the polymorphed Powerlord.

"Hello, would you mind getting me out of this cage?"
After suiting up, Ludo struck a conversation with the party.  They eventually decided to use their dimensional shackles to bind the Powerlord to the altar on the dais, while they used their spells to try to disenchant the cursed armor that he was wearing.  But before they could get properly started, a runic circle they hadn't seen yet flared to life and out of a portal stepped two figures.

"Hello, sister."
Darkfury had come, alongside a small, robed spellcaster.  The robed figured beside Darkfury looked visibly agitated.  After Darkfury soothed the wizard, he turned on Syndi ... who he had identified as his sister.

Scurris: "You will fail today, Darkfury.  Retrieve what is mine and be done with it!"

Krak: "Why do you have my clan name?  Who are you!?!"

"Hello, sister.  Lorkax wasn't lying after all.  Hard to tell, with all the screaming.
Finally, my revenge is at hand.  My 'sister', the half-breed abomination.  You are an affront to everything that is dragonborn, the afterbirth of our shared mother's greed and lust for power.
Tell me, monster, were you at his side as he destroyed Draconia?  Did you see my father burned alive on the walls?  Did you hear the cries of the children?  The smell of cooked younglings still fills my nostrils.
Your devotion to Thordak did show me what true power is, however.  When I found the dragon, he showed me the true weave of destiny.  Of balance.
But before we reset the scales for this world, I will purge your filth from this land!"

Darkfury lifted a bronzed horn to his lips and blew, causing fifteen spectral hobgoblin berserkers to be summoned.

"We are compelled to fight."
The spectral hobgoblins, compelled to fight by the horn, derided Darkfury as a coward.

"So much fury for a coward.  We will fight your battles yet again, Darkfury."

Turning to party, they seemed almost apologetic.  "We are compelled to fight.  We salute those about to die.  May you know the peace in the afterlife that we are denied.  Fight well and die with honor, warriors."

The berserkers attacked!

During the fight, the party tried to make their way to exit, only to be blocked by some of the berserkers.  Scurris, under attack from the party, cast Cone of Cold and hit multiple party members, dealing grievous damage to Ixta.  Darkfury leapt an impossible distance to land right in front of Syndi, almost killing her with two massive swings of his ominous greatclub.  He exulted in his revenge, screaming, "The dragon was right!"

The party quickly realized that the horn was important; the berserkers seemed reticent to comply with Darkfury's commands, but were forced to do so.  Allen tried to shoot the horn off of Darkfury's hip to no avail, and Syndi nearly succeeded in grasping the horn from him as well as she Misty Stepped away after surviving the initial brutal assault.  Ludo helped the party by healing downed heroes and using Heat Metal on the enemies.

The minotaur's Polymorph was dropped by Herbie during the fight.  Realizing the party had tried to find a way to help him, he whirled on the berserkers and began a savage attack, keeping many of them occupied.  Powerwife Satella joined in, defending the heroes who had spared herself and her husband.

The Powerlord defends his new friends!

Finally, Aemeyt was able to snatch the horn away and spirit it into the corridor beyond after being aided by Darkfury's supposed ally Scurris!  Syndi fell from Darkfury's onslaught and Darkfury, growing tired of Scurris' whining, killed Grandfather Krak in two blows that mutilated the kobold's head.

Scurris, a reluctant combatant from the outset, retrieved something from Krak's body and teleported Darkfury out against his will.  The berserkers remained, and pleaded with the party to 'sunder the horn!'  Combat continued.

Aemeyt finally broke the horn with his moon-touched shortsword, and the berserkers melted away, finally able to go their eternal rest.  Usiris flew to the fallen Krak, and using Revivify alongside the pure love he held for the kobold paladin, willed him back to life.  Krak breathed again, although heavily disfigured from Darkfury's attacks.  Usiris felt the warmth of Abrielle in his chest.

After the fight, the group gathered, healed up, and spoke to their newest friend Ludo, it was definitely time for a drink.  The wizards decided to use their Dispel Magic to try to disenchant the minotaur's cursed armor.  Using their incredible power, they were successfully able to drive whatever cursed entity out of the armor; it billowed out as red mist and then dove straight into the ground.  The Powerlords were overwhelmed with gratitude and handed over their treasure haul from the last thre jobs freely.  The party divvied up the treasure and headed back to the elevator after a very, very long day.

Chad gave the party free rounds, on the house!
The gaming house was apparently unaware of the brutal fight below; nothing seemed to be amiss.  Big Rob still guarded the doorway to the elevator and Chad was working the bar.  The group ordered some alcohol and ruminated on what to do next.

Syndi engaged the Powerlords in conversation about hunting down some information on Lorkax, her missing brother who Darkfury inferred was being tortured.  The Powerlords, grateful for their new lease on life, agreed to put out the word.  Guy also suggested that Grimgore and Satella help dissuade other mercenaries from joining up with this 'dragon' Darkfury spoke of; the Powerlords agreed to help in that as well.

Syndi prepared to write letters to her mother and the Fire Ashari, asking about Darkfury, Scurris, or any news about Lorkax.  She wasn't hopeful that she would get responses.

Usiris and Krak spoke about what had happened in the cavern; Usiris was shocked when Krak lied to him about what Scurris had taken from his body.  Krak begged Usiris not to tell Abriell what had happened or that something was stolen from him.  Usiris felt he had no choice but to report what he had seen.  "She'll kill me, Usiris."  Usiris reported what had happened to Abriell later that night.  He felt the warmth of Abriell's approval in his chest once more, a deep and all-powerful love that had been missing for some time.

Abriell: "Bring him to the Tower, Usiris."
Ludo Lightfingers partied with Ixta, diced with some rogues, and ingratiated himself with the party for the night.  In the morning, he left a note on Ixta's door, "If your group needs work, I may have something for you.  Find me if you need me.  Love, L."

The group spent a very restful night in the gaming house with a day full of decisions dawning upon them.

Session 3 - Versus the Powerlord! (Herbie, Daltonya)

And her paladin, the Celestial Dragon revered
And through the ranks assenting murmurs reign
The paladin to rev'rence, but ransom took
For the Darkfury; he with haughty mein

SESSION INSPIRATION AWARDS: Herbie, Daltonya

The session kicked off following the revelation of High Priest Galvin's death, and his replacement at the hands of some unidentified fiend.  The party discovered clues leading them to believe that Usiris' old mentor, a kindly kobold Paladin named Grandfather Krak, had been kidnapped by some mercenary group named 'the Powerlords.'

Usiris' mentor needs help!

The crew set out for Kymal, where the mysterious dragonborn Syndi vaguely recognized instructed them to leave personal possessions that will help him break the kobold at a drop point.  "He won't last much longer," the mysterious dragonborn said.  The party had already searched Krak's room, discovering a diary amongst his personal effects, and had planned to make the drop in the city.

Kymal's streets are as rough as its reputation.

Using Ixta's personal airship, The Black Manta, the group made their way to Kymal.  Located in the heart of Tal'dorei, Kymal is a seedy, corrupt town that thrives on gambling and oppression.  The crew split into multiple parties, and each of the groups made their way into the city through various means; bribery, intimidation, and skullduggery.

After making their way inside, the groups stayed split up; some investigated a local fountain in full disguise, some headed straight for the seediest local gaming hub named the Rusty Slot, and still others drank.  Herbie and Guy tracked down a Thieves Guild contact, after Herbie discovered why the fountain was no longer operational (a box with a curious platinum orb had been shoved in the fountain water return pipe).  Ixta's crew spread to the four winds with orders to carouse and discover information on the area ... covertly.  Sorta.

As the groups converged on the gaming establishment, the Rusty Slot, they found it to be an oasis for the well-to-do members of the city, as well as a haven for adventurers.  The place was packed with soldiers of fortune and explorers, mingling with the upper crust of the city.  Clearly, this was an exciting place to be!  Could it house the way to the crypts below Kymal, where the dropoff was?

The Rusty Slot, despite its crude name, is an opulent gambling house.

Usiris and Daang nearly got grifted by a sleazy bartender named Chad, who was looking to make a quick gold coin based on 'information' on how to get into the crypts below Kymal. Usiris had pity on him and taught him the error of his ways.

"Hey bro, you looking for a way into the crypts bro?"

Daltonya was recognized by a half-orc bouncer named 'Big Rob.'  Big Rob harbored dreams of being an adventurer himself, but never could pull himself away from the Rusty Slot.  He asked for Daltonya's autograph for his nephew, Little Rob.  Daltonya and Rob hit it off immediately, with Rob providing key intelligence on the comings and goings of several shady characters.  Rob even offered to cover the doorway while Daltonya went below.

"Oh shit, are you Daltonya?!"

Aemeyt and Syndi, still in disguise, sat at a nearby table after being recognized immediately at the door.  The head waiter approached them after some time and inquired about why they were at the gambling house.  They weren't expected, after all.

"Good evening, Father ... "
Aemeyt and Syndi managed to bluff the waiter into letting them into the lower chambers, which turned out to be an entrance for the crypt!  Aemeyt quickly charmed the waiter into showing them the way and leaving; signaling to the rest of the group, they all made their way downstairs into the crypt with no issues.  Rob guarded the doorway as a favor for Daltonya.

The crew all squeezed into an elevator that went down several floors.  They'd learned above that the crypts were a place where adventurers flocked, to earn gold and grow as heroes.  The group went past multiple levels, hearing screams and yells occasionally as they passed floor after floor.

Eventually, they arrived at the bottom floor, where they discovered a zombie operating the elevator winch with an equally zombified donkey providing the horsepower.  They made their way through a series of winding passages lit by magical torches and eventually found the room where Krak was held.  He was guarded by six thugs; they were quickly dispatched.

The jail cell was actually quite nicely appointed.
The group rescued Krak, but immediately grew suspicious.  Krak was in excellent health and his 'cell' was actually quite comfy.  Didn't the mysterious dragonborn say that he 'wouldn't last long?'  While Usiris reunited with Grandfather, the group searched the cell.  They found letters, written in Draconic.  They demanded to know what the letters said, and Krak grew embarrassed.  After some negotiation, Usiris started to read the letters aloud ...

"My dear Usiris ... "
The letters turned out to be farewells to Usiris, just in case he didn't survive this ordeal.

Once Krak got his equipment on and readied himself, the group ventured further into the crypts.  They reasoned that they couldn't go back through the casino, since it would alert any remaining conspirators topside, so they followed the sounds of rushing water deeper in the lair, hoping to identify an underground river by which they could escape.

After prowling around, they eventually came to a dimly lit door.  Guy ventured ahead to see who was about and overheard this exchange:

Powerlord: “When is that ship getting here, Wulkax?”
Darkfury: “MY NAME IS DARKFURY, MINOTAUR!”
 Powerlord: “That name is stupid.”
Powerwife: “Darling, please let’s not make the dragonborn angry.  Darkfury, when can we expect the ship and our payment?”
Darkfury: “Soon.  I assume the kobold is unspoiled?”
Powerwife: “Of course, we’re professionals.  He’s unharmed and well-fed.”
Powerlord: “Whatever did you need him for anyways?  He seems harmless.”
Darkfury: “The dragon will decide.  Do not question him.”
Powerlord: “You speak often of this dragon, is it your master?”
Powerwife: “Darling, wait … I hear something …”

After hearing this, Guy decided to be bold and strode into the chamber.  This angered the minotaur, who promptly lost control and began attacking.  The Powerwife became alarmed at the minotaur's anger and sought to calm him, but to no avail.  She pleaded with the group to spare her husband.

"Do not kill him, please!"
The minotaur attacked ferociously, seemingly turning on anyone that damaged him.  The Powerlord was able to cover huge distances and inflict grievous damage.  The battle turned to one of survival!  Every attempt to calm the huge beast failed; his armor seemed to glow and react to attempts to charm him!  Eventually, the Powerwife landed a blow on him, and minotaur wheeled about, looking to slay his own wife!

The rampaging Powerlord!
Just as the situation was about to turn grim, Herbie succeeded in Polymorphing the Powerlord into a calf.  Exhausted, the group wonders what to do next ...

The PowerCalf.

Session 2 - Galvin's Treachery (Usiris, Syndi)

Thus as she prayed, her prayer to Void heard
Along the Divine Gate's height it was passed
Burning with wrath, behind the dragon hung
His void and furor amassed

SESSION INSPIRATION AWARDS: Usiris, Syndi

Following the undead attack, the party gathered their wits and decided on their next course of action.  Guy wished to explore further in the dungeon, but the party decided to return to the Turst Fields to report their battle with the undead fiends.  Guy was displeased.

After returning to the camp, the party took a long rest.  The following morning, Guy stated his intentions to go back to the ruined temple, which the group voted against.  What followed was a tense standoff between Daang and Guy, nearly resulting in blows.  In the end, Guy threw his dagger down disgustedly and stormed off.  The group pondered what this meant.

On their way back to town, the group began to form a plan: using illusionary magic, they would surprise Galvin, the High Priest of Pelor.  While at this temple, they would confront him with the spectre of now-slain Celesta.

"Hey Galvin, what's shakin'?"

The plan took shape.  Some of the group snuck off to get better vantage points.  Others caused a distraction, while Aemeyt and Syndi (in illusory disguise as Celesta and Elwym respectively) went to the temple.  The acolytes near the temple entrance shrieked in fear at the sight of the undead Celesta, which roused Galvin.

Hold Person didn't seem to work!

After accusing Galvin, Aemeyt (as undead Celesta) distracted him while Herbson cast Hold Person on the High Priest.  It worked!  Or so they thought ...

While the group closed on the paralyzed Galvin, Usiris noticed a small twitch from the cleric of Pelor.  No sooner had he noticed, than Galvin attacked!  Usiris waited to engage until he had proof that Galvin was indeed a foe ... proof that would follow mere seconds later when Galvin's form melted away to reveal a massive fiend who assaulted the heroes!

"He said this would be easy.  The damn dragon lied again!  Fine, I'll do this myself!"

The group attacked the creature with fervor.  In short order, the monster turned to run as the tables were decidedly turned against it.  Retreating into the temple after using its innate ability to cast darkness, it summoned help from the depths of the Abyss.

Their screeching cry freezes opponents in place.

Two winged demons ripped through a portal and immediately beset the party.  Although the demons were fearsome, the group quickly killed one and forced the other to retreat.  Eventually, the monster masquerading as Galvin was destroyed by Daang, but not before turning on the acolytes cowering in the temple and killing several.  As the demon died, it screamed aloud, "ORCUS WILL HAVE THIS WORLD!" and dematerialized upon death.

Usiris used his radiant healing magic, a boon from his celestial patron Abriell, to revive one of the fallen acolytes.  Guy led a smaller team deeper into the temple and located the High Priest's quarters.  After a quick Dispel, the group entered the room and located a large trunk, which housed the liquifying remains of the original Galvin.  They also discovered a small, magical mirror that seemed to be a communication device.  While Syndi was holding it, it grew warm and started vibrate; when she held it up and disguised herself as Galvin, another dragonborn came into view through the mirror.

This dragonborn mentioned finding some items of Krak's and delivering them to Kymal at the 'usual dropoff.'  Syndi couldn't shake the feeling that she knew this dragonborn, but there was something unsettling about him.  The memory eluded her and after successfully deceiving the other dragonborn, stowed the mirror in a safe space inside Herbson's extra-dimensional secret compartment.  Usiris grew concerned at the mention of his long-time paladin friend; Grandfather Krak was apprehended by this dragonborn or his allies!  The dragonborn suggested finding some items of Krak's to help 'break him' and that the little kobold would not last much longer.

"Find something personal.  Something we can use to break him ... "

Aemeyt used his clerical powers to speak with the deceased Galvin and learned a few things: something called a 'void dragon' was involved, Galvin was killed by the demon, amongst other clues.  With the true Galvin found, the demon threat ended, and peace restored, the group made their way back to Khor's tower, where they were greeted by Bartleby, the majordomo.

"Ah, Captain Ixta ... someone was looking for you."
Bartleby informed Ixta that her first mate, a kobold named Betty, had dropped by to inform her that her airship was fully repaired and awaiting her orders.  He also pointed the group in the direction of Khor Oreheart, master of the tower and Usiris' mentor.

Usiris regaled Khor with the story of what had happened so far, and eventually got to the part where Krak may be in trouble.  They searched the little kobold's room, and found nothing except a small diary that contained heartwarming messages about Usiris and Khor.  Usiris surmised that this type of information is what the villains were searching for.  The group made plans to set out for Kymal at earliest light aboard the Black Manta, Captain Ixta's newly repaired ship.

The Black Manta.  First Mate Better ensures the she's ready to fly!

While some of the group prepared for a rest, others ventured into the night to wrap up any pressing business in the Turst Fields.  Guy approached his business partner Garth Underston; Garth fled at the sight of Guy because he had apparently squandered the profits of his mug-selling venture on a magic pig; it would have been the mascot of his tavern, The Pig & Whistle.  Guy threatened the barkeep and together they came to an agreement; 10% ownership of the tavern, which would be renamed Captain Guy's Port for All Storms, and a 100% cut of all the profits from a new round of signed mugs.

"But it was a magic pig!"
Herbie decided to upgrade some equipment and sought out a guard named Stephen who owned a magical crossbow.  Though the initial trade offer of a poorly-made orc dart was refused by Stephen and the counter-offer of the arcanomechanical armor from Herbie was likewise rebuffed, there seemed to be a bit of interest from the guard.  Herbie was well-known for selling many trinkets and wares, and perhaps a deal could be struck.

The group bedded down for the night with plans to fly to Kymal in the morning to rescue Grandfather Krak and continue to unravel the mystery around the undead plague.  Was it connected to this 'void dragon?'  Only time will tell ...
